the base of the brush has no contacts, its totally sealed with no contacts that i can see, neither does the chargin base....any ideas...thanksHow does a cordless tooth brush charge?
Ah, this once mystified me too...
The base has a coil in it, which is connected to the AC mains supply. The toothbrush also has a coil of wire in its bottom, so when the two are next to each other (but not touching), a voltage is induced in the toothbrush's coil, giving a current to charge its battery.
Therefore, there doesn't have to be any metal-on-metal contact as the coils can be a couple of millimeters away for charging to happen. How does a cordless tooth brush charge?
