Can I brush my teeth with new braces?

I JUSTTTT got them. If i brush my teeth will the wire snap or will one of the brackets come off? Im curious because i dont want to drive all the way back to the orthodontist.Can I brush my teeth with new braces?
You can brush all you want and they won't come off or break a wire.


If there is an air bubble beneath the bracket, or the tooth wasn't fully dry when they put the braces on, a bracket may come off. But brushing should be the least of your worries. If it's loose enough to come off or snap, there's nothing much you can do to prevent it.


It's not likely that a wire will snap or bracket will come off though.

Brush your teeth very well and use a floss threader to clean under the wires.Maybe next time you go to the orthodontist, have them show you how to keep everything as clean as possible.


Do not be afraid to brush,if you don't keep your mouth clean, you can get decay and gum issues.
Yes, definitely okay! You just have to be really super careful because the glue that is holding your brackets on is still drying, and they are in a really fragile state right now, lol. I'd say you probably shouldn't eat anyting that would stain or get really stuck in your braces right now, like coffee and tea and really tough meat, because your teeth are probably going to get sore soon and they would be really painful to brush! I lived off the mashed potatoes and water diet for the first three days, my mouth was really sore. Good luck with your braces!
Nope, you have to let your teeth rot. Just kidding! It is very important to brush, and I can tell you I have found some great things to help. Go to Wal-Mart (or a similar store) and find G-U-M pics which can reach some of the back teeth. Oral-B Superfloss (it just makes it so much easier, and it is so important to floss your teeth), ACT mouthwash, and an Oral-B rechargeable toothbrush (for like $20). This way you make sure that all of your teeth are clean and will not rot :)

Yeah you can, just make sure you don't brush too hard.
ofcourse. just be sure ur toothbrush has soft bristles and be careful enough..the minty feeling will make your teeth less painful for a while
