My lionhead wont let me brush him. Everytime I start brushing him he runs away. I brush him very gently, using a soft brush (since he REALLY didnt like the slicker brush) I even try holding a treat for him to nibble on while I brush him, but he still runs away. What should I do? My Lionhead wont let me brush him, what should I do?
Hi...I've been raising and showing rabbits for 10 years. No rabbit will just sit there completely still and enjoy being brushed. It is very important that you use a slicker brush, as that will get tangles out and a soft brush will just smooth it down. But the best way to brush a rabbit is to sit it on a table, with a carpet surface nothing slick, cup one of your hands over its head and eyes and place your thumb around the base of it's ears and hold him gently yet firmly to keep him in place and then brush him with your other hand. It may take awhile before he gets used to this but if he moves or backs up just put him back in place and repeat until you are finished. Over time he should squirm less. Hope this helps and please feel free to contact me with any other questions. My Lionhead wont let me brush him, what should I do?
if it is young it will get used to it and generally enjoy it you need to make sure you do use a slicker brush as well or a comb as there fur matts really bad and can cause alot of problems
I would feed him while brushing. We did this with my parents' dog TJ, who had to be put down a week ago :'-(, he didn't like having his nails clipped. Feeding him took his mind off of what was happening.
what is a lion head???
